MG launches M9 electric MPV at ₹70 lakh in India, first luxury EV sold via MG Select

MG M9 Launched: JSW MG Motor India has launched the M9 electric MPV at ₹69.90 lakh (ex-showroom). It is the most expensive model in MG’s Indian lineup. Available in a single, fully loaded variant, the M9 is sold through the new MG Select luxury retail network in Mumbai and Delhi. Pre-bookings are open for ₹1 lakh, with deliveries starting August 10, 2025.

Premium EV Entry: The M9 marks MG’s entry into India’s premium electric vehicle segment. Unveiled at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo, it is a rebadged version of the global MG Mifa 9. As the first all-electric luxury MPV in India, it has no direct electric rivals but competes with the Kia Carnival, Toyota Vellfire, and Lexus LM.

Distinctive Design: The M9 features a boxy silhouette with sleek LED DRLs and headlamps on the front bumper. A full-width LED tail light bar connects the rear taillights. Chrome accents, 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and power-sliding rear doors enhance its premium look. It comes in Pearl Lustre White, Metal Black, and Concrete Grey.

Luxurious Cabin: The M9’s interior has a black-and-tan dual-tone theme with a minimalist dashboard. It includes a 12.23-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch digital driver’s display. The 6-seater layout features second-row captain chairs with 16-way adjustment, heating, ventilation, and massage functions. A panoramic sunroof and 64-colour ambient lighting add to the premium feel.

Rear-Seat Comfort: The second row is designed for chauffeur-driven buyers, offering powered Ottoman seats that fully recline. Rear passengers can use optional entertainment screens and an armrest-mounted touch panel to control seat adjustments. The “boss mode” feature allows second-row occupants to electronically adjust the front passenger seat for extra legroom.

Spacious and Practical: The M9 offers 945 litres of boot space, expandable to 1,720 litres by folding the third row. It also includes a 55-litre frunk for additional storage, a first for MG in India. The MPV measures 5,200 mm long, 2,000 mm wide, and 1,800 mm tall, with a 3,200 mm wheelbase.

Feature-Packed: The M9 is equipped with a 13-speaker JBL sound system, 3-zone climate control, a digital IRVM, and a powered tailgate. It supports wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and connected car tech. Additional features include a wireless charger, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) functionality for enhanced convenience.

Safety Features: Safety includes 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The M9 also offers Level 2 ADAS with adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency braking. It has 5-star Euro NCAP and ANCAP ratings but is yet to be tested by Bharat NCAP.

Powertrain Specs: The M9 is powered by a 90 kWh NMC battery and a front-axle electric motor producing 245 hp and 350 Nm. It offers a certified range of 548 km. The MPV supports 160 kW DC fast charging, achieving a full charge in 90 minutes, and includes an 11 kW AC charger.

Local Assembly: The M9 is locally assembled via the Semi Knocked Down route, keeping its price competitive at ₹69.90 lakh. This approach makes it more affordable than fully imported rivals. The MPV comes with a lifetime battery warranty for the first owner and a 3-year/unlimited km vehicle warranty.
