Maruti Suzuki’s Fronx becomes fastest Indian SUV to reach 1 lakh exports


In FY 2024-25, the Fronx was India’s top exported passenger vehicle, with over 69,000 units shipped overseas.
Exclusively manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat facility, the Fronx is exported to over 80 countries. Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading passenger vehicle exporter for four consecutive years, exported a record 3.3 lakh units in FY 2024-25, a 17.5% increase from the previous year.
In Q1 FY 2025-26, the company exported over 96,000 vehicles, capturing a 47% share of India’s passenger vehicle exports. Alongside the Fronx, top export models include the Jimny, Baleno, Swift, and Dzire, with key markets being South Africa, Japan, and Saudi Arabia. Maruti currently exports 17 models to nearly 100 countries.

In India, the Fronx is priced between Rs 7.54 lakh and Rs 13.06 lakh (ex-showroom) and is a top seller in the sub-4 meter compact SUV segment, with 1.66 lakh units sold in FY 2024-25.
It offers two engine options: a 1.2-litre Dual-Jet Dual-VVT petrol engine (89.73bhp, 113Nm) with a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox, and a 1.0-litre Turbo Boosterjet petrol engine (100.06bhp, 147.6Nm) with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. A CNG variant of the 1.2-litre engine (77.5bhp, 98.5Nm) is also available with a 5-speed manual.
The Fronx comes with features like LED multi-reflector headlamps with DRLs, automatic headlamps, LED rear combination lights, a shark fin antenna, and 16-inch alloy wheels. Its interior includes a 9-inch HD Smart Play Pro+ infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an Arkamys-tuned sound system, automatic climate control, a head-up display with navigation, a 360-degree camera, and a wireless charger.
