Minda Corp partners with Qualcomm for building smart car cabin platform

Under the collaboration, Minda will design a next-generation cockpit platform powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon cockpit platform, which will enhance in-car cabin experiences in terms of displays, audio, computing, and connectivity, according to a stock exchange filing.
Minda’s new cockpit domain controllers will be equipped to support rich multimedia experiences, AI-driven interfaces and seamless cloud integration, enhancing cockpit performance, digital user interface and vehicle connectivity for Software-Defined Vehicles, the company said.Software-defined vehicles (SDVs) allow manufacturers to introduce dynamic modifications through software coding, such as over-the-air updates in electric cars.
Previously, automakers and automotive solutions providers in India, namely Tata Technologies and Hyundai, have partnered with technology companies to drive innovation in SDVs.
In January, Tata Technologies announced a strategic partnership with Telechips, a provider of comprehensive automotive semiconductor solutions. Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Group has partnered with US-based tech company Nvidia to develop advanced AI-driven technologies for smart mobility and manufacturing.
Separately, Minda, in June, signed a joint venture agreement with Toyodenso for the manufacturing and selling of advanced automotive switches for the automotive segment in India.
