Hyundai announces price cuts up to ₹2.4 lakh after GST rate reduction

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) on Sunday (September 7) said it will reduce prices across its passenger vehicle range by up to ₹2.4 lakh, fully passing on the benefit of the government’s recent GST rate cut to customers. The revised prices will come into effect from September 22, 2025, when the new GST regime kicks in.

With this move, Hyundai said it aims to make its cars more accessible for the Indian customers, particularly ahead of the festive season. The company highlighted that reductions will vary by model — from ₹73,808 on the Hyundai Nios to ₹2,40,303 on the Tucson. Other popular models such as the Venue, Creta, i20, Alcazar, and Verna will also see significant price drops.

Unsoo Kim, Managing Director of HMIL, welcomed the reform, calling it a “progressive and far-sighted” decision by the government.

“This reform is not only a boost to the automotive industry but also a strong step towards empowering millions of customers by making personal mobility more affordable and accessible,” he said, adding that Hyundai remains committed to supporting India’s vision of Viksit Bharat by offering value-driven cars and SUVs.

The decision follows the GST Council’s approval of the “GST 2.0” reform on September 3, chaired by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The council’s move to cut GST rates on passenger vehicles has been hailed as a game-changer for the industry, with automakers responding swiftly.

Hyundai’s announcement comes just a day after Tata Motors confirmed it would also pass on the full benefit of the tax cut to customers starting September 22. Mahindra & Mahindra has already rolled out revised pricing from September 6, while Renault India and BMW are among other manufacturers expected to follow suit.
