Skoda’s most affordable electric SUV Epiq to hit 2026 with 425 km range

Skoda Auto has revealed the Epiq show car, previewing its upcoming all-electric city SUV crossover. The production model is scheduled for mid-2026 and will be Skoda’s most affordable electric SUV.The Epiq is the first Skoda to adopt the brand’s new design language, combining bold, minimalist styling with functional, practical solutions. At 4.1 metres long, it seats five passengers and offers a 475-litre boot, making it suitable for daily use and longer trips. The car is expected to have a starting price comparable to the petrol-powered Kamiq.

The Epiq features Cashmere matt paint with a glossy black Tech-Deck Face. T-shaped LED daytime running lights and turn indicators frame the front, while lower-positioned headlights accentuate a robust front bumper finished in Cosmo grey.

A tornado line separates body sections and the glass cabin, giving the SUV a contemporary look. Squared-off wheel arches and a thick C-pillar reinforce its compact SUV stance, with T-shaped rear lights and a roof spoiler completing the sporty design.

Inside, the Epiq focuses on usability and digital integration. The cabin follows Skoda’s “Mobile First” philosophy, with wireless phone charging, a floating centre console, physical buttons, haptic scroll wheels, and a large central touchscreen. Storage solutions include bag hooks, underfloor compartments, and other elements.

The Epiq is expected to offer up to 425 km of range on a single charge. It will use LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery technology, which reduces costs while maintaining performance. The larger battery variant may support DC fast charging up to 125 kW, enabling 10–80% charging in around 20 minutes.

The Epiq will be produced at Volkswagen’s Navarra plant in Spain as part of the Electric Urban Car Family (EUCF) project within the Volkswagen Group. It shares development and production efficiencies with Volkswagen ID.Polo and Cupra Raval while maintaining Skoda-specific design and features.

With pricing expected around €25,000, the Epiq aims to make electric mobility accessible to mainstream buyers. Its combination of compact dimensions, practical storage, and competitive range positions it strategically against rivals such as Renault Scenic E-Tech, Peugeot e-3008, and BYD Atto 3.

The Epiq is expected to debut globally in 2026. In India, it could benefit from Volkswagen’s PEAK EV localisation plans, though high pricing and limited charging infrastructure may affect adoption.
