Global Unveil: Mercedes-Benz has introduced the all-electric GLC with EQ Technology, marking an important milestone in its SUV lineup. The model premiered at the IAA Mobility show in Munich, Germany. Positioned as a successor to the EQE SUV, production of which ends in 2026, the GLC EV is expected to shape the brand’s premium electric future, competing directly in the global luxury EV market.
2 / 9Launch Variants: At launch, two versions will be available: the GLC 300+ rear-wheel drive producing 374 hp and the GLC 400 4MATIC all-wheel drive delivering 489 hp. Both models use a 94 kWh NMC battery. The AWD variant accelerates from 0–100 kmph in 4.3 seconds, achieves a top speed of 210 kmph, and offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 713 kilometres on a single charge.
3 / 9Charging Specs: The GLC EV sits on Mercedes’ new MB.EA-M platform with 800-volt architecture. It supports ultra-fast DC charging of up to 330 kW, adding 303 kilometres of range in just 10 minutes. Charging from 10 to 80 percent takes about 24 minutes. Thanks to a built-in DC converter, the SUV works with both 800-volt and 400-volt charging systems, enhancing its flexibility for different global markets.
4 / 9Design Highlights: The exterior is dominated by a massive grille featuring 942 illuminated dots and a central light-up three-pointed star. The SUV achieves a drag coefficient of 0.26, aided by a sloping roofline and subtle spoiler. Standard wheels measure 20 inches, with 21-inch alloys optional. LED taillights with star-shaped elements reflect Mercedes’ new design identity, blending aerodynamics with distinctive styling cues from historic Mercedes models.
5 / 9Interior Features: Inside, the vehicle boasts the 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, the largest display fitted in a Mercedes. It combines driver, central, and passenger screens into a seamless unit with matrix-backlight technology. Mercedes has reintroduced physical buttons on the steering wheel and centre console for easier operation. A panoramic roof is standard, with optional switchable glass and star-patterned illumination enhancing the cabin’s ambience and passenger experience.
6 / 9Comfort and Capacity: The SUV provides improved passenger space with an 84mm longer wheelbase than its combustion counterpart. Boot capacity stands at 570 litres, with an additional 128 litres available in the front trunk. AIRMATIC air suspension from the S-Class and rear-axle steering with up to 4.5 degrees increase driving comfort and manoeuvrability. The GLC EV also offers a towing capacity of 2.4 tonnes, strengthening its versatility.
7 / 9Sustainability Focus: Production of the electric GLC will take place at Bremen in Germany, Kecskemét in Hungary, and Beijing in China. The SUV reduces lifecycle carbon emissions by two-thirds compared to the combustion GLC. It incorporates recycled materials and carbon-reduced aluminium in its construction. The integrated battery housing contributes to structural safety, while the modular battery design allows flexible manufacturing across multiple vehicle types in different global markets.
8 / 9India Market Outlook: Mercedes-Benz India recorded 157 percent growth in EV sales during Q1 FY2025-26, with penetration rising from 2.5 to 8 percent. The GLC EV is expected to enter the Indian market soon, though the timeline and pricing are yet to be announced. Based on Mercedes’ strategy of targeting the top-end luxury segment, the SUV will likely compete in the ₹1 crore-plus bracket.
9 / 9Competitive Rivals: In India, the electric GLC will compete with the BMW iX priced at ₹1.21 crore, the Audi Q8 e-tron starting at ₹1.15 crore, and Mercedes’ own EQC at ₹99.51 lakh. The BMW iX delivers a 575 km range, while the Audi Q8 e-tron offers 491–582 km. With its 713 km WLTP range and faster charging, the GLC EV positions itself with a clear technical advantage.
