Mahindra brings Samsung digital key to BE6, XUV 9e: Unlocks even when phone is off!

Mahindra and Mahindra in collaboration with Samsung has rolled out Digital Car Key functionality for Mahindra’s born electric SUVs – the XEV 9e and BE 6 – through Samsung Wallet. With this, Galaxy smartphone owners can now unlock, lock, and even start their Mahindra EVs straight from their phones, without the traditional key entirely.The feature is baked right into Samsung Wallet, letting users manage access to their vehicle from one secure place. It’s compatible with Galaxy devices that support Near Field Communication (NFC) and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technologies, ensuring quick and seamless connectivity. The feature isn’t limited to Samsung’s latest smartphones – even older Galaxy devices from the past five years, including models from the Note and S series equipped with NFC, are compatible with the Digital Car Key.One of the highlights is the ability to share digital keys – owners can grant temporary access to family members or friends, adding flexibility without compromising control. Another standout feature is that the Digital Car Key remains functional even if your phone’s battery dies, allowing you to unlock or start the car without powering on the device.On the security front, Samsung has placed heavy emphasis on protection. If a phone with an active Digital Car Key goes missing, users can use Samsung’s Find service to remotely lock the device or completely wipe stored data, including the key itself. Access to the vehicle is also gated behind biometric verification or a secure PIN, making sure only authorised users get in. Samsung Wallet acts as a one-stop hub for Galaxy users – not only for digital car keys but also for payments, IDs, and passes. The app is safeguarded by Samsung Knox, the company’s defence-grade security layer, which ensures data stays encrypted and protected.
