Bajaj Auto to launch Riki e-rickshaw brand on August 10, production already started


Bajaj Auto will enter the e-rickshaw market under a new brand, Riki, with sales set to begin on August 10.Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, in an exclusive interview with CNBC-TV18, said, “In the first four markets, we will go to market on 10th of August under the brand Riki.”

Production has already started, and the company plans a phased rollout.

“As we have done with the Gogo, we’ll build it up slowly,” Bajaj said.Also Read: Bajaj Auto to develop electric motorcycles under Pulsar and Boxer brands

“We will wait a quarter or two before we scale it up, because we need to get the product absolutely right.”

He added, “We are still making our way up the learning curve in all respects — technology, product, and customer service — as far as electric technology is concerned.”

The launch of Riki follows Bajaj Auto’s recent success in the electric three-wheeler segment, where its Gogo model became the market leader.
