Bajaj Auto begins work on electric motorcycles; Boxer for commute, Pulsar for sports

“We will develop a commuter electric motorcycle prototype under the Boxer brand, and an electric sports motorcycle prototype is being developed under the Pulsar brand,” he added.
Bajaj acknowledged that this is a new space for the company and said, “As far as motorcycles are concerned… I’m happy to share a first information on this. This is a segment where… we are not exactly the market leader, or overwhelmingly the market leader.”Also Read: Rajiv Bajaj says resetting KTM’s cost structure key to brand revival
While Bajaj Auto already holds a leadership position in the electric scooter and electric three-wheeler categories with the Chetak and GoGo, respectively, the company’s immediate focus remains on expanding sales in those segments. As Bajaj put it, “The current focus is on expanding sales of e-scooters and electric three-wheelers.”
While specific details about the timeline, features, or production capacity for these electric motorcycles were not disclosed in the interview, the move builds on Bajaj Auto’s growing presence in the EV market.
The company is also planning the rollout of additional Chetak variants and a new electric scooter platform. However, the launch of this platform has been deferred to Q3 or Q4 of FY26 due to supply chain constraints involving rare earth magnets.
