Sengottaiyan removed as AIADMK organisation secretary, Erode Suburban (West) district secretary: Palaniswami

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Saturday (September 6, 2025) announced that former Minister and Gobichettipalayam MLA K.A. Sengottaiyan has been relieved from the posts of the party’s organisation secretary and secretary of its Erode Suburban (West) district unit.

In a statement, Mr. Palaniswami also announced that seven other functionaries, who were supporters of Mr. Sengottaiyan, were relieved from various district posts.

The move comes a day after Mr. Sengottaiyan stressed the need to strengthen the AIADMK by readmitting those who had left the party. He had set a 10-day deadline for the party high command to take steps toward this, so that the organisation could “reclaim its past glory ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections”.

Expelled AIADMK coordinator O. Panneerselvam and former aide of late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa V.K. Sasikala had welcomed Mr. Sengottaiyan’s call for readmitting all factions of the party.
