Tesla Model Y price in Gurugram ₹5.7 lakh more than Delhi, Mumbai — here’s the reason

The price gap is mainly because Haryana charges ₹5,77,141 as road tax and registration fees on the Model Y. In comparison, Mumbai’s road tax and fees are ₹7,500, and Delhi’s are ₹7,000. All three cities include a 1% Tax Collected at Source (TCS) of ₹59,890, a service fee of ₹50,000 (including GST), and a ₹800 Fastag charge.

Tesla’s India pricing is also impacted by import duties on completely built units (CBUs), which can reach up to 100%, nearly doubling the price compared to its US base price of $44,990 (₹38.6 lakh). The Model Y starts at 263,500 yuan in China and €45,970 in Germany.Tesla opened its first Indian showroom on July 15 at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis attended the opening and expressed hope that Tesla would establish R&D and manufacturing in India.

The Model Y RWD offers a WLTP range of 455 km with a 0–100 km/h time of 5.9 seconds. The Long Range variant extends range to 533 km and accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. Both use a single motor and can regain over 230 km of range in 15 minutes on a Supercharger.
Standard features include a 15.4-inch central touchscreen, an 8-inch rear display, heated and ventilated front seats, and Tesla’s active safety systems. Competing with premium EVs from Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and BYD, the Model Y’s ₹60–70 lakh price bracket also places it against luxury petrol and diesel SUVs.
