Tesla’s next India plan includes 8 charging sites, Delhi showroom and free home chargers

Taking its first step toward establishing a presence in India, Tesla said the company has a goal of building a sustainable ecosystem for electric mobility in the country.
As part of this, Tesla announced plans to set up four charging stations across Mumbai, each equipped with 16 Superchargers and 16 Destination Chargers. These will be located in Lower Parel, BKC, Navi Mumbai and Thane, according to Isabelle Fan, Director, Tesla South East Asia.Also Watch | Sirish Chandran, Editor, evo India magazine, discusses the Tesla’s India drive in an interview with CNBC-TV18.
Delhi is also set to benefit from Tesla’s infrastructure push, with four upcoming charging stations featuring 16 Superchargers and 15 Destination Chargers.
In addition, the company will soon open a showroom in the national capital, reportedly before the end of July.
Tesla’s India plans go beyond just showrooms and chargers.
The company is in the process of establishing experience centres, service centres, delivery systems, charging infrastructure, logistics hubs and workplaces across the country as it ramps up operations.
Speaking at the Mumbai launch, Fan said Tesla will rely solely on Indian talent to run its India operations. “We don’t need any talent from outside India,” she said, underlining the company’s local hiring strategy.
