Tesla opens online orders across India, prioritises delivery in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Gurugram


Tesla has announced that anyone in India can now order its cars directly through its website. The company updated its online system to allow residents of 34 states and union territories to book and register Tesla cars, displaying prices with applicable local taxes and incentives.While orders are open nationwide, Tesla will prioritise deliveries in four cities — Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Gurugram. Customers in these cities will receive the first batch of cars.

Tesla also launched its Model Y SUV in India, with prices starting at ₹59.89 lakh for the rear-wheel drive variant. The long-range version starts at ₹67.89 lakh. Deliveries for the base variant will begin in the third quarter of 2025, while the long-range version will follow in the fourth quarter.Buyers can only order the Model Y on Tesla’s website and must pay a non-refundable deposit of ₹22,220 when booking, plus ₹3,00,000 within seven days. Extra options, like Full Self Driving for ₹6,00,000, special colours, an administrative fee of ₹50,000, and a FASTag charge of ₹800, will add to the cost.

Tesla’s first showroom in India has opened at Maker Maxity Mall in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex. Called the Tesla Experience Centre, it showcases Tesla’s products and technology with a mix of global design and Indian cultural elements. The showroom project was led by Neeta Sharada, Chief Architect for Tesla India.

For now, Tesla imports its cars, and prices may change. The company has no immediate plans to manufacture in India. Deliveries will be made either to customers’ doorsteps or from local hubs.
