Jaguar Land Rover operations disrupted by major cyber breach

Jaguar Land Rover revealed on Tuesday that they have been hit by a cyber-incident that compelled the company to shut down their systems as it ended up disrupting their global operations.The carmaker said that they took immediate measures to limit the impact and is now working to resume the applications in a phased manner.
“JLR has been impacted by a cyber-incident. We took immediate action to mitigate its impact by proactively shutting down our systems. We are now working at pace to restart our global applications in a controlled manner. At this stage there is no evidence any customer data has been stolen but our retail and production activities have been severely disrupted,” the company said in its official statement.
The disruption coincided with the rollout of their ‘75’ registration plates, which was rolled out on September 1 in the UK. Reports say that the dealers were unable to register any new cars, which triggered delays across their retail network.JLR have not revealed finer details about the nature of the attack of the perpetrators of the same, but they did assert that they took immediate action to close down their systems in order to prevent any form of escalation.
