Overdrive | Maruti begins e-Vitara production, Aston Martin DBX 707 arrives in India


It’s a busy week for India’s automotive industry, with fresh launches and major announcements across both cars and bikes. From Maruti Suzuki’s first electric SUV to Aston Martin’s luxury performance model, and from Hero’s tech-laden commuter bike to Triumph’s retro-inspired ride, the market is buzzing across segments.Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest carmaker, has commenced production of its much-anticipated eVitara at the Hansalpur plant in Gujarat. The electric SUV will be exported to more than 100 countries, marking a significant milestone in the company’s electric vehicle journey.

Meanwhile, Aston Martin has introduced its most powerful luxury SUV, the DBX 707, in India. The model promises “a touch of elegance with unrelenting performance,” adding weight to the expanding premium SUV line-up.

Overdrive’s Christopher Chaves notes that these are packaged in a refreshed yet practical design tailored for everyday riders.

On the retro front, Triumph has rolled out the Thruxton 400, combining classic café racer styling with modern performance. The company says it has been “reimagined for everyday rideability,” striking a balance between old-school character and daily usability.
