He added that despite discussions around a possible GST cut on EVs, the company has not seen customers delaying purchases. “If it does come through, it’s going to receive a very good response and provide relief to consumers,” Gupta said, pointing out that it would also support broader goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat.
On the supply side, Gupta acknowledged challenges from the rare earth magnet shortage but noted that the industry is actively working on alternatives. “It’s a wait and watch, but we are very optimistic that this whole situation will get resolved very soon,” he said.TVS Motor launched its new electric scooter, the TVS Orbiter, at ₹99,900 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru, inclusive of the PM e-Drive scheme) on Thursday. Gupta said the product has seen a strong initial response. “In just a few hours from its launch, we’ve received very positive feedback.”
The Orbiter is targeted at young urban commuters seeking a mix of style, performance, technology and practicality. Gupta said it adds to TVS’ growing EV portfolio, alongside the iQube, at a time when the two-wheeler EV segment is expanding at over 20% annually.
