From The Hindu, August 26, 1925: Round the world on bicycles

Calcutta, Aug. 25: Signor Iginis Gibelli and Herr Antony Kundinger, who are touring the world on bicycles, came to Calcutta and called on Mr. Gandhi on Monday. They tried to get Mr. Gandhi to give a message from India to the world in their autograph book. As Monday is observed by Mr. Gandhi as a day of silence he wrote as follows: “If you will please come some other time when I am speaking, I shall talk to you and then decide whether to give something in your book or not.”

Being asked if he did not think it wise to write a message from India to the world, Mr. Gandhi wrote: “I want the whole world to know all about my country. You are most welcome.”
