Kinetic Engineering Ltd. launched the all-new Kinetic DX electric scooter in India on Monday, marking its return to the two-wheeler segment. The scooter is available in two variants — Kinetic DX priced at ₹1,11,499 and Kinetic DX+ priced at ₹1,17,499 (ex-showroom, Pune).Bookings are open online for ₹1,000, with deliveries set to begin in September 2025. Production will be limited to 35,000 units initially, with Kinetic targeting 40,000 deliveries in the first year.
The Kinetic DX is developed and manufactured by Kinetic Watts and Volts Ltd. (KWV), Kinetic’s EV-focused subsidiary established in 2022. KWV has already been infused with ₹72 crore capital, with an additional ₹177 crore committed by the promoters to scale the DX platform.
Design & BuildThe Kinetic DX retains the boxy silhouette of the original Kinetic Honda DX while integrating modern design elements. It features LED lighting, a hexagonal headlamp, an illuminated flyscreen logo, and metal body panels. The scooter sits on 12-inch wheels with 100/80-section tyres, and offers 165 mm ground clearance with a 1314 mm wheelbase.

It also gets 37 litres of underseat storage, capable of holding one full-face and one half-face helmet, and includes additional hidden compartments and a USB charging port.

Battery & Performance

The Kinetic DX is powered by a 2.6 kWh LFP battery from Kinetic’s own Range-X, offering a longer lifespan than NMC battery types, with up to 3500 charge cycles. The motor is hub-mounted, producing up to 4.8 kW of peak power. The DX+ can reach 90 km/h, while the DX tops out at 80 km/h.

Claimed range stands at 102 km for the DX and 116 km for the DX+ (IDC estimate). Kinetic also claims the range can stretch up to 150 km when using cruise lock at speeds under 30 km/h. Charging times are 0–50% in 2 hours, 0–80% in 3 hours, and a full charge in 4 hours. The DX+ has a built-in charger; the DX gets a portable one.Features & Technology

Both variants come with three ride modes (Range, Power, Turbo), hill hold control, reverse mode, and cruise control. Front telescopic forks and adjustable rear shock absorbers handle suspension duties. Braking is managed by a 220mm front disc and 130mm rear drum with combi-braking.

The scooter is equipped with an 8.8-inch digital LCD, keyless start, and Kinetic Assist switch for instant CRM Bluetooth connectivity. It also includes an Easy Key PIN-based ignition, Easy Flip foot pegs, and an integrated speaker for music and navigation. A quirky feature is its ability to wish the owner a happy birthday in 16 languages.

The DX+ variant adds Telekinetic connected features such as real-time ride stats, geo-fencing, vehicle tracking, Find My Kinetic, intruder alert, and voice alerts through the My Kiney Companion system.

Availability & Warranty

The Kinetic DX is offered in Silver and Black, while the DX+ comes in Red, Blue, White, Silver, and Black. Both variants come with a 3-year/30,000 km standard warranty, extendable up to 9 years/1,00,000 km.

Competition

The Kinetic DX will compete with other electric scooters like the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, Ather Rizta, Hero Vida V1, and Ola S1 series.

With the DX, Kinetic revives a familiar name from the 1990s, blending legacy design with electric mobility, aiming to lead the new era of sustainable commuting in India.
