IND vs SA, Women’s ODI World Cup 2025: Batting depth is India’s weapon, says Jemimah

Jemimah Rodrigues has brushed aside concerns of the Indian batters not playing to their potential so far. Instead, she suggested that the depth of batting should keep opponents on their toes.

“We are on the right track. Yes, we’ve had small contributions from the top and middle orders. But we’ve had new match winners every time. Opponents know that we have batting till the end,” she said.

“Maybe if one doesn’t click, the other is taking responsibility. I would say that it’s scary for opponents to know that we have not had our perfect match yet and we are still on a winning streak.”

The 25-year-old also underlined the importance of peaking at the right time in the tournament.

“We are still waiting for that perfect match. Such tournaments, because they are so long, it’s important to peak at the right time. We have so much more confidence knowing that till the end we have batters and everyone’s a match winner,” she stated.

Jemimah also said that the team was taking it one game at a time and is focussing on its strengths rather than adapting its plans according to the opponents.

“I think dealing with expectations is simple: we shouldn’t think too much about it. The more importance you give it, the more it will feel like pressure,” she expressed.

“We’ve always spoken about sticking to our strengths. Are we doing what we’ve planned? If we’ve done that, we are happy. If not, we’ll try and improve.”
