Bengaluru cybercrime police organise victims’ day at station

Officials of the Bengaluru district cybercrime station on Saturday organised ‘victims’ day’ at the station to not only update the progress of the cases, but also create awareness.

The programme, attended by over 50 people, covered not only cyber crimes, but also emphasised the safety of women, children, drug and property offences, and do’s and don’ts in social media.

“As prevention is better than cure, the idea is to bridge public-police relationships in a better way and help the victims in every possible way,” C.K. Baba, Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru district, said.

“It’s a general tendency that the victims of cyber fraud are affected psychologically due to several reasons. The staff have been given training on how to counsel them through proper dialogue so that they feel better. A help desk has been set up at the dedicated station where staff are trained to help the victims in all possible ways,” Mr. Baba said.

The victims’ day programme will be conducted at the station regularly, and plans are afoot to extend it to other stations, officials said.
