Thirupuvanam police book case regarding ‘Ungaludan Stalin’ petitions found on Vaigai river

Police have filed a case pertaining to the ‘Ungaludan Stalin’ scheme petitions found on Vaigai river at Thirupuvanam here on Saturday.

Following complaints about the floating petitions, revenue officials retrieved them from the location.

After the videos went viral in social media and criticism from opposition party members, District Collector K. Porkodi ordered an inquiry into the incident.

Ms. Porkodi through a press statement also stated that it was 13 duplicate copies of petitions found in the river—six from the ‘Ungaludan Stalin’ scheme camp and seven from the Tahsildar’s office—and that the six petitions from the ‘Ungaludan Stalin’ camp had already been resolved.

Meanwhile, based on a complaint lodged by revenue officials, Thirupuvanam police registered a case stating that unidentified individuals stole 13 land transfer petitions stacked in the land survey section of the Thirupuvanam tehsildar’s office.

As the police investigation is underway, Ms. Porkodi has ordered for the transfer of Thirupuvanam tehsildar and disciplinary action against seven officials at the tahsildar’s office for their negligence.
