AI-powered bike ‘Garuda’ made from scrap with Tesla-like features by Gujarat students

Three mechanical engineering students from Surat have built an AI-enabled electric superbike prototype called Garuda. What makes the project stand out is not only its futuristic tech but also the fact that half of the bike has been built using scrap materials. Here’s a quick look at some key details.

The team (Shivam Maurya, Gurpreet Arora, and Ganesh Patil) reportedly spent a year and around Rs 1.8 lakh developing the prototype motorcycle. Inspired by global players like Tesla, their aim was to design a smart two-wheeler that can eventually run without a rider.At the heart of Garuda is a Raspberry Pi system, which works as the bike’s “brain.” The system can be linked with Wi-Fi, and will allow the motorcycle to take voice-based commands. The bike can regulate its own speed and even stop automatically when instructed.
In terms of safety, Garuda comes equipped with two high-range sensors that constantly scan the road. If another vehicle enters within 12 feet, the bike slows down. If an obstacle is detected within three feet, the motorcycle can halt on its own. Riders can also command it verbally.Other key features include, a touchscreen display with GPS navigation, music, phone connectivity, and live video feeds from front and rear cameras. A wireless mobile charger is also equipped.
