Leopard kills goat, sparks panic among locals in Chennimalai

The Chennimalai forest, which spans approximately 1,700 acres, is home to deer, peacocks, and monkeys. Recently, leopard sightings have increased, with multiple reports of goats and dogs being attacked. Forest officials who inspected the site found that the leopard had dragged the goat past an electric fence but could not carry it outside, leaving it at the spot. Traps with bait have been set, but the animal continues to avoid them. The department has urged farmers to secure their livestock and stated that efforts to capture the leopard are ongoing.
