Architect of Kavach to head safety in Southern Railway


MP Kanimozhi to get Periyar Award in Karur on Sept. 17Lalit Mansukhani, architect of Kavach, India’s indigenous automatic train protection system, has taken charge as the Principal Chief Safety Officer of Southern Railway. The 1991-batch officer of the Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers has worked in various capacities across the railway network, and also in the Indian Space Research Organisation, and United Kingdom Railway Signalling Design House. He was the recipient of the Railway Minister’s Award for his contribution to the innovative Kavach project in 2013. Mr. Mansukhani had earlier served as the Additional Divisional Railway Manager in Madurai.
