Škoda Vision O concept revealed with 650L boot, AI assistant and recycled materials

Estate Legacy: Skoda has revealed the Vision O, a fully electric estate concept at the 2025 Munich Motor Show. It marks the next step in the brand’s Modern Solid design language and previews future Combi models. The Vision O builds on Skoda’s estate leadership, with Octavia and Superb Combi leading European sales since 2016 and achieving more than 3.6 million combined deliveries since 1998.

Design Language: The Vision O adopts a minimalist yet robust exterior with a Tech-loop lighting mask, continuous LED signature and illuminated Skoda branding. Cyber Lights extend into fenders, while T-shaped rear lamps mirror the design at the back. Aerodynamic aids include active cooling vents, recessed handles and aero-optimised wheels. A dual-tone mica-pearl finish shifts with daylight, while split spoilers and clean surfaces highlight estate proportions designed for efficiency.

Key Dimensions: Measuring 4,850 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,500 mm tall, the Vision O keeps estate practicality at the core. Luggage space starts at 650 litres, expanding to more than 1,700 litres when rear seats are folded. Its raked windscreens, long bonnet, panoramic roof, and blacked-out C-pillars create a sleek silhouette. Compared with the Vision S SUV concept, the Vision O is longer and more spacious.

Cabin Display: Inside, the Vision O debuts a 1.2-metre Horizon Display running across the dashboard, replacing a traditional instrument cluster. This is paired with a vertical central screen, rotary haptic dial and a new two-spoke steering wheel. Both passengers can customise views, while Bio-Adaptive Lighting adjusts to natural cycles. “Simply Clever” additions include a portable Bluetooth speaker, integrated fridge, wireless charging pods and a retractable passenger table for extra functionality.

Smart Features: Skoda’s AI assistant Laura is embedded in the system, supporting navigation, contextual information and note-taking. She also responds to voice commands for entertainment, scheduling and route planning. A Vision O mobile app adds remote functions such as cargo preparation, window tint adjustment and personalised Horizon Display presets. A forthcoming MySkoda update with Google Gemini will introduce AI-driven trip planning, charging stop suggestions and recommendations for points of interest.

Sustainable Materials: The Vision O incorporates circular economy principles throughout. Seat covers use 100% recycled PES flat-knit fabric. Ultra-suede surfaces contain 65 percent plant-based material, while flooring is made from leather scraps. TPU headrests are 3D-printed in zero-waste processes. Several parts are designed for recyclability at the end of life. Practical storage touches, including charging cable holders and umbrella slots, reinforce Skoda’s emphasis on everyday functionality alongside sustainable use of resources.

Autonomous Tech: Advanced autonomous driving features enable the Vision O to handle most road tasks except in poor weather. A special Tranquil Mode repositions seats, dims displays and alters ambient lighting for lounge-like comfort during self-driving. Integrated radar and camera systems are hidden in the Tech-loop fascia, while Cyber Lights act as external signals during autonomous mode, ensuring other road users are aware when the vehicle is driving itself.

Customer Approach: Skoda Chairman Klaus Ziegler said the Vision O reflects the brand’s “customer-first design philosophy and commitment to circularity.” Designed from the inside out, the concept prioritises usability, technology and sustainability before styling. The Vision O also underlines Skoda’s aim of remaining among Europe’s top three carmakers by 2030, with electrified models forming the core of its future product portfolio and ongoing commitment to the Combi tradition.

Production Plans: Skoda confirmed that the Vision O previews a future production estate scheduled for the next decade. It will be built on Volkswagen Group’s upcoming electric vehicle platform. While technical details such as battery capacity or range were not disclosed, the design has been optimised for long-distance driving. The concept demonstrates how the brand intends to merge estate practicality with the demands of the electric era.

Future Vision: The Vision O combines estate functionality, sustainable materials and digital innovation in one package. It previews Skoda’s approach to balancing efficiency, comfort and user-focused technology. By integrating recyclability, advanced autonomous driving and AI-driven features, the Vision O establishes itself as a statement of Skoda’s electrified strategy.
