VinFast to open 35 showrooms in 27 Indian cities, EV launch and deliveries this month


Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast is gearing up for a major expansion in India. In an exclusive interview with CNBC-TV18, Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia, detailed the company’s plans for expansion, product launch, and dealer network in the country.Chau confirmed that the company has already opened its first showrooms in Surat and Chennai, with plans to expand to other metropolitan cities across India. “We have opened a few showrooms in Surat, Chennai and eventually in other big cities like Kochi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, and Goa,” he said.

This showroom network is part of VinFast’s broader strategy to build a strong footprint in India, backed by the recent inauguration of its ₹16,000 crore EV manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu — the company’s first overseas facility.

Chau stated, “We are going to launch the car in a few days, in which we are going to announce the features of the car and we announce the price.”

In anticipation of the launch, VinFast has already started accepting online pre-bookings. “We already opened online pre-booking. We have an impressive reservation,” he noted, indicating strong early interest from Indian consumers.

The company is also preparing for its next operational phase. “Next week we start delivering the car to our dealers,” Chau said, adding that customer deliveries will begin shortly after. “Basically, the customer can receive the car end of this month or beginning of next month.”

As part of its dealership expansion, VinFast has signed agreements with over 130 dealer groups. “So far, we have signed an agreement with 130 group of showrooms, and we are going to open 35 showrooms in 27 cities,” Chau confirmed.

He added that the company continues to receive new applications from interested dealers. “Many potential dealers are calling us to express their interest.”
