ENG vs SA, 3rd ODI: England records its fifth highest One-Day score

England smashed its fifth-highest team score in an ODI during the third match against South Africa in Southampton on Sunday.
Powered by hundreds from Joe Root and Jacob Bethell, England posted 414 for five after being inserted by the Proteas.
The English charge was also boosted by quickfire fifties from Jamie Smith and Jos Buttler.
This is England’s highest ODI score against South Africa, bettering the 399/9 it scored against the Proteas back in 2016.
England holds the record for the top-three highest scores in ODIs, coming across seven years since 2016.
Its highest total, the highest in the format, was born in Amstelveen in 2022 when it smashed 498 for four against Netherlands.

- 2) 481/6 against Australia in Nottingham in 2018.
- 3) 444/3 against Pakistan in Nottingham in 2016
- 4) 418/6 against West Indies in St George’s in 2019
