Tata Motors to pass on full GST cut to customers by making their cars cheaper by up to ₹1.55 lakh


Tata Motors announced that it will pass on the entire benefit of the recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) reduction on passenger vehicles to customers, effective September 22, 2025, when the revised rates come into force. The move comes just ahead of the festive season, with the automaker confirming that its popular cars and SUVs will see price cuts ranging between ₹65,000 and ₹1.55 lakh across segments.According to the official press release, the Nexon will see the steepest price correction of up to ₹1.55 lakh, followed by the Safari ₹1.45 lakh and Harrier ₹1.40 lakh. Among entry-level models, the Tiago will get cheaper by up to ₹75,000, the Tigor by ₹80,000, the Altroz by ₹1.10 lakh and the Punch by ₹85,000. Tata’s newly launched Curvv will also see a price cut of up to ₹65,000.

Calling the GST revision a progressive and timely decision, Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. & Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said the company will fully honour the intent and spirit of this reform by passing on the benefits to customers. “This will make our range of cars and SUVs more accessible across segments, enabling first-time buyers and accelerating the shift towards new-age mobility for a wider spectrum of customers,” he said.

The timing of the price cut is significant as it coincides with India’s peak automobile sales season, with demand traditionally surging around festivals such as Navratri and Diwali. Tata Motors has urged customers to book early to secure deliveries, anticipating high demand following the price corrections.
