Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has released a video ahead of his upcoming film The Bengal Files, addressing the historical context and research behind the project. Known for his previous works such as The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files, Agnihotri has consistently focused on bringing historical events and lesser-known narratives to the big screen.

He explained that his team conducted extensive field research, including interviews with survivors and victims’ families, and collected documentation to ensure the accuracy and authenticity of the film.

Agnihotri stated, “Some forces want to ban The Bengal Files. Because it exposes the truth of the Hindu Genocide. But the truth cannot be silenced. Everyone asked me why I made this film. Now, watch it. Advance booking opens tomorrow.”

The filmmaker also drew parallels between The Kashmir Files and his latest work, explaining how his earlier film sparked conversations about historical events and led to broader discussions. “If The Kashmir Files hurt you, The Bengal Files will haunt you,” he said, underscoring the intended impact of the new film.

The Bengal Files is written by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri and produced by Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi. The film stars Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher, and Darshan Kumar. It is presented by Tej Narayan Agarwal and I Am Buddha Productions, and forms part of Agnihotri’s Files trilogy alongside The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files.

The film is set for release in theatres on September 5, 2025, with advance bookings opening shortly after the release of Agnihotri’s explanatory video. The filmmaker emphasizes that the film’s narrative is based on documented historical events and extensive research conducted on the ground in West Bengal.
