67-year-old man gets double life term in POCSO case

A 67-year-old man, convicted of sexually assaulting a minor girl, was sentenced to double life imprisonment and slapped with a fine of ₹80,000. Avarachan, a resident of Thottumkara in Pothanikkad, Anathukuzhi, was sentenced by the special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court at Muvattupuzha.

The crime took place in August 2022. The case was registered at the Pothanikkad police station, and the investigation was conducted by a team comprising DySP Muhammad Riyaz, Inspector K. Unnikrishnan, and Sub-Inspectors T.K. Sudheer and K.T. Sabu. Special Public Prosecutor P.R. Jamuna appeared for the prosecution.
