Tesla plans for second showroom in Delhi’s Aerocity

Tesla is gearing up for its second showroom in India, this time in the capital. After Mumbai, Delhi’s Aerocity, which is the most prime location near IGI Airport, might be the next pit stop for Tesla enthusiasts. As per the reports, construction at the site is nearly complete and hinting at an official opening soon. The latest development comes on the back of Tesla’s Model Y debut in the Indian market. The company’s official India website also went live on the same day, initially offering car registration options only for Mumbai, Delhi, and Gurugram.

Speaking in a panel discussion with CNBC-TV18, Vivek Vaidya, Associate Partner at Frost & Sullivan, said Tesla’s arrival could give a “run for their money to players like BMW, Mercedes, and new entrants like VinFast and BYD.” With bookings already underway, Vaidya noted that the company could build a healthy pipeline on the back of its strong brand pull.
Industry voices agree that Tesla’s India entry was a matter of when, not if. Tesla can’t ignore a market like India, which is the largest country in the world by population. If they want to be a serious player in EVs, they have to be in India, there is no doubt about it,” Vaidya said, dismissing the idea that pressures in China or Europe prompted the company’s entry.Tesla’s India debut began with the opening of its first showroom at the Maker Maxity Mall in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex. Two imported variants of the Model Y, sourced from the company’s Shanghai factory, are currently on display. Deliveries for the rear-wheel drive variant are expected by the end of Q3, while the long-range version will begin reaching customers in Q4
