Man held for impersonating ACB official

The PM Palem police on Wednesday arrested a person on charges of impersonating an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) official and trying to extort money from the Sub-Registrar office personnel.

According to the officials, the accused, identified as B. Sudhakar, arrived at the Sub-Registrar’s office in Madhurawada. He approached Joint Sub-Registrar Chakrapani by introducing him as an ACB Inspector.

He allegedly told Mr. Chakrapani that the ACB had received several complaints against him related to amassing wealth disproportionate to the known sources of income.

The accused told the Joint Sub-Registrar that he would strike down the cases against him if he was paid ₹5 lakh.

Growing suspicious, Mr. Chakrapani alerted the PM Palem police who rushed to the office and arrested Sudhakar.
