Higher Education Minister R. Bindu has said that four postgraduate physics students from University College, Thiruvananthapuram, are set to travel to South Korea on Wednesday to participate in a prestigious international internship programme.
The students, Priyanka, Aiswarya M., Thasleema H. and Rohit M., have been selected for the 10-week research internship at the Korea Institute of Energy Technology (KENTECH). The internship was made possible through the Higher Education department’s Research Development and Outreach programme.
Each student has been granted financial support of ₹3 lakh by the government. The assistance will cover all expenses including air travel, visa, accommodation and other related costs.
Dr. Bindu said the opportunity that enables students from a government college, particularly those from ordinary socio-economic backgrounds, to receive international research exposure reflects the progressive achievements of Kerala’s higher education system.
