Tamil Nadu Revenue Officials’ Association has urged the State government to immediately fill the Office Assistants posts in Revenue and Disaster Management Department which has been vacant for about five years.
As about 3,000 OA posts in the Revenue and Disaster Management Department remained vacant for several years, following continuous protests of the association, Tamil Nadu government instructed Collectors to immediately fill 546 positions.
But there has been no development in filling the vacancies, the association alleged.
“We demand Collectors to fill the vacancies and the order for filling remaining vacancies should also be issued,” they added.
As several new programmes and schemes were being introduced in the revenue and disaster management department, the pressure on the officials to implement them was unbearable, they said.
“Due to the pressure on them to work within a deadline causes errors in the work we do. So, enough time should be given for the implementation of any new projects,” they stated.
As the employment on compassionate grounds was reduced from 25% to 5%, families of government staff who died on service were severely affected, they said.
“Workers who toiled their entire life for the service to public should be awarded at least this benefit,” they noted.
The association said that as revenue and disaster management department has to work for about 10 hours owing to the nature of work, they should be granted better incentive.
