Three Assam natives held with over 1 kg of suspected ganja

Excise officials on Monday (May 19) arrested three men from Assam during a vehicle inspection at Puvam in Taliparamba after they were allegedly found transporting suspected ganja.

The accused — Sameer Deen, 31, Jahirul Islam, 19, and Assarul Islam, 19 — were travelling on a motorcycle when they were intercepted by the Excise team. Over 1 kg of suspected ganja was reportedly seized from their possession

The operation was led by Excise Inspector A.B. Thomas of the Taliparamba Excise Range. He said the offence is punishable with imprisonment ranging from one to ten years. Legal action has been initiated against the trio under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
