Thiruvananthapuram Corporation dstributes electric tricycles

The Thiruvananthapuram Corporation on Friday distributed electric tricycles to Haritha Karma Sena workers to collect non-biodegradable waste from various localities and transport it to the collection and treatment centres. Mayor Arya Rajendran flagged off the tricycles at a function held at the Corporation office. The Haritha Karma Sena members were provided one month of training to use the electric tricycles.

The project was implemented with the cooperation of the Kerala Development and Innovation Strategy Council (K-DISC), Social Alpha Foundation, University of Toronto India Foundation and Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA). The electric tricycles was one of the novel ideas evolved through the innovation challenge held as part of the Innovations in Sustainable Urban Transition programme.
