The Department of Civil Engineering at the Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT) hosted its annual national-level technical fest, Survekshan 2025, with a focus on the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in civil engineering on Monday.
Lt. Col. P.J. Anand Kumar (Retd.), Founder and CEO of Critical AI Pvt. Ltd., the chief guest for the event, delivered the keynote address, emphasising the transformative role. “Civil engineering, the foundation of civilization for millennia, is undergoing a major shift with the advent of AI,” he said. He highlighted how AI is optimizing project processes, enhancing safety, and promoting sustainability from design to demolition.
Underscoring the often-overlooked aspect of demolition, he emphasised, “Demolition is as crucial as construction. Sustainable practices, now supported by AI, can reduce environmental impact and help engineers make informed decisions.”
Chandrashekhar M.S., Vice-President, Epcogen Pvt. Ltd., the Guest of Honor, described Survekshan as a key platform enabling students to assess and enhance their knowledge and skills. H.C. Nagarj, Principal, NMIT, presided over the event.
