Ram Kapoor reflects on career shift from TV to OTT and films; says, “I get to explore a vast variety of roles, which is the best phase for any actor”Reflecting on his career and the creative freedom that comes with versatility, Ram Kapoor shared with News18 Showsha, “Every character is special to me while I’m performing it. I’m fortunate to play so many different kinds of roles. Television made me a household name with hit shows where I played the same character for 3 to 4 years, which was great. But now, being accepted in the world of OTT and films, I get to explore a vast variety of roles, which is the best phase for any actor.”
He added, “I’m enjoying playing positive, negative, funny, serious roles, etc. Right after Mistry, my next film will showcase a very different character. That’s the beauty of being a character actor; you get to do so much. I’m truly blessed.”
The trailer for Mistry introduces Ram Kapoor as Armaan Mistry, a germophobic former detective battling obsessive-compulsive disorder. Despite his many phobias, Mistry is celebrated for his razor-sharp intellect and keen investigative instincts. Returning to the Mumbai Police as a consultant, he takes on complex, high-stakes cases, often leaving even the most experienced officers in awe with his unorthodox yet effective approach.
The streaming platform describes him as: “Chaotic to some. An enigma to all. When it comes to unsolved mysteries, no man better than Mistry!” Hotstar Specials: Mistry premieres June 27, exclusively on JioHotstar.
Ram Kapoor steps into the shoes of Armaan Mistry in the Indian adaptation of Monk, channeling many of the beloved traits of Adrian Monk—the iconic American detective known for his obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Mistry offers a distinctive mix of crime, comedy, and heart, while staying true to the spirit of the original series.
Directed by Rishab Seth and produced by Banijay Asia in collaboration with Universal International Studios, the show centers on Kapoor’s portrayal of the eccentric, compulsive, and brilliant detective Armaan Mistry. He’s joined by a stellar supporting cast that includes Mona Singh, Shikha Talsania, and Kshitish Date. Mistry premieres on June 27, 2025, exclusively on JioHotstar.
