Shivamogga Lok Sabha member B.Y. Raghavendra has accused the governments of non-BJP ruled States, including Karnataka, of negligence in sending Pakistani nationals back to their country.
In a press conference in Shivamogga on May 6, Mr. Raghavendra said that following the Pahalgam terror attack, the Central Government issued instructions to all States to identify Pakistani nationals and send them back within 48 hours. They could have reached India either as infiltrators, or for business, or treatment.
“The governments in all BJP-ruled States have effectively implemented this decision. However, governments in States, including Karnataka, where non-BJP parties are in power, have been negligent on this issue. We appeal to the State Government to identify such people and send them back within 24 hours,” he said.
Mr. Raghavendra appealed to the Shivamogga district administration to identify Pakistani nationals in the district and send them back. “The BJP appeals to the Governor to direct the State Government to take immediate measures in this regard,” he stated.
The Lok Sabha member said that BJP workers had conducted a signature campaign on the issue and would submit a memorandum to the Governor on May 7.
BJP MLA S.N. Channabasappa and others were present at the press conference.
