
He described the win as “unanimous” and credited it to the front’s focus on popular and relevant issues during the campaign.

“The people have spoken against the government. The UDF raised only people‘s issues in Nilambur and that connected with the voters,” Mr. Thangal told media in Kannur following the win in Nilambur byelection.
He acknowledged that P.V. Anvar too “benefitted from the anti-government mood.”
“Anvar also received anti-government votes. But he could not join the UDF from the Nilambur station. There are still other stations, “ he remarked, hinting at the possibility of future political realignment.
Mr. Thangal added that the UDF will discuss Mr. Anvar’s possible entry into the front at an appropriate time.
“None of the controversies related to the Welfare Party of India’s support were reflected in the election. The focus remained on governance and people’s concern, “ he said.
He also stressed the need for the UDF to further consolidate it’s strength ahead of the next Assembly elections.
