The East Zone police of Hyderabad have issued a lookout notice for five Nepali nationals allegedly involved in a heist at a residence in Kachiguda.
The gang, who had been employed as domestic help, drugged the elderly couple they were working for and fled with about 1 kilogram of gold and about ₹60 lakh in cash, said the DCP (East), B. Bala Swamy.
According to the officer, the accused — identified as Lokendra Bahadur Shahi, Arpitha, Depender alias Gajender, Chathurbuj alias Aryan, and one more unnamed individual — were hired by Meena Dugar and Hemraj Dugar, a couple in their 60s, residing in Kachiguda. Hemraj is said to be a businessman.
“The gang had been working in the household for about a month. On the night of April 21, they allegedly spiked the couple’s dinner with sleeping tablets. Once the couple was unconscious, the gang made off with 1 kg of gold ornaments and ₹50 lakh to ₹60 lakh in cash. By the time the incident came to light, the accused vanished without a trace,” explained an officer.
Despite search operations conducted in Hyderabad and across parts of Nepal, the suspects remain untraced.
Investigators believe the gang is still within India. They urged the public to remain alert and report if seen. The images and identities of the offenders have been released to aid in the manhunt.
“All five offenders are Nepali nationals and may attempt to cross the Indian border along with unidentified accomplices,” said a senior officer. The police have assured that informants will be suitably rewarded. Contact numbers of DCP East Zone, Additional DCP, ACP, SHO Kachiguda, and DI Kachiguda were provided for anyone with credible leads.
Hyderabad police have consistently urged residents to conduct thorough background checks and police verifications before hiring domestic help.
