Mammootty joins fight against drug menace

Actor Mammootty has joined the fight against the drug menace through a project titled ‘Talk to Mammootty’, which will serve as a helpline for the public to share information on substance abuse and drug peddling confidentially. The information will then be passed on to the Excise department.

Mr. Mammootty launched the project, conceived under the aegis of his charity organisation Care and Share International, through his Facebook account on Wednesday (June 25, 2025) evening. The project has the support of the Excise and Local Self-Government departments. The Kudumbashree Mission has also volunteered to propagate the project through its Neighbourhood Groups.

Calls to the number 62388-77369 will be received in the voice of the actor, who had recorded it recently for the purpose. The calls will be disconnected after assuring callers that their details will be kept confidential. Over 150 calls were received in the very first hour after the launch of the project.

Those who wish to overcome substance abuse can also call the number, and arrangements will be made to provide them with counselling. The social welfare wing of Rajagiri Hospital in Aluva is also associating with the project.
