Imported as a completely built unit (CBU), the bike is available only in the Standard variant with a Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic colour.
Tsutsumu Otani, Managing Director, President & CEO of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, at the launch of the new bike, said- “We are delighted to introduce the globally acclaimed Rebel 500 in India. This much-anticipated cruiser motorcycle has received tremendous response across international markets, and we are confident it will appeal to Indian riders as well.”
The Rebel 500 is powered by a 471cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that produces 45.59 BHP at 8,500 rpm and 43.3 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. It uses a 6-speed gearbox designed for strong low-end torque and smooth power delivery.
The bike has a tubular steel frame, a 690mm seat height, and an 11.2-litre fuel tank. Its design includes a round LED headlamp, wide handlebars, an inverted LCD display, and a short exhaust for a deep sound.
The suspension includes telescopic front forks and twin Showa rear shock absorbers. Braking is handled by a 296mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. The bike rides on 16-inch Dunlop tyres, with a 130-section front and 150-section rear, and has a kerb weight under 195kg, similar to Royal Enfield’s 350cc bikes.
The Rebel 500 competes with the Kawasaki Eliminator 500, Royal Enfield Shotgun 650, and Super Meteor 650. It is ₹64,000 cheaper than the Eliminator 500 and ₹78,000 less than Honda’s NX500, but more expensive than the Royal Enfield models, which start at ₹3.59 lakh and ₹3.68 lakh.
Yogesh Mathur, Director of Sales and Marketing at Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, added, “We are very excited to bring the Rebel 500 to Indian shores. It has been a motorcycle that riding enthusiasts have been eagerly waiting for years, and it’s now finally here. Designed to let you express your individuality, the Rebel 500 blends timeless cruiser styling with modern touches to stand apart from the crowd.”
