In the most shocking case of adulterated food sale in the market, the government has detected the sale of fake paneer which can lead to severe health repercussions to those who consumed them. In reaction to it, the Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi has promptly urged the Health Minister, J P Nadda, to take urgent action against the sale of adulterated paneer in restaurants, fast food joints and other markets across the country.

Joshi wrote a direct letter to the Union Minister of Health and Welfare stating that the consumption of such fake and adulterated food items may also lead to severe and chronic health issues. He also mentioned that multiple complaints have been lodged on the National Consumer Helpline portal bringing to light the rising sale of adulterated or fake paneer in the entire country. He requested the Health Ministry to take necessary measures so that food safety standards are strictly adhered to across the country.

Such incidents have not only sparked concerns but also triggered “public anxiety and complaints” about the quality and safety of food being consumed, especially among consumers who rely on paneer as a primary source of nutrition, Joshi said in the letter to the minister.
