
A six-year-old boy died and his brother and parents were injured in a two-wheeler accident on the Chittoor-Cuddalore Highway at Mambakkam village near Arani when their vehicle collided with a roadside tree on Sunday.
The deceased boy was identified as V. Jeeva, 6, from Pudupattu village. The injured include his brother, V. Sakthivel, 8, and their parents, K. Venkatesan, 33, and V. Divya, 29.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Venkatesan, who works in Chennai, was riding the two-wheeler with his family back to Chennai after attending a temple festival in their native village. He reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which then crashed into a roadside tree.
In the impact, Jeeva was thrown off the two-wheeler and died on the spot. Immediately, passersby and other motorists rescued the injured persons and admitted them at Government Medical College Hospital in Cheyyar. They also alerted Vazhapanthanthal police, who inspected the spot. A case was registered.
