The opposition BJP submitted a petition to the BBMP chief commissioner seeking withdrawal of the decision to impose user fee for garbage disposal in Bengaluru.
Speaking to mediapersons after submitting the petition on May 28, Leader of Opposition R. Ashok took exception to the government imposing user fee in addition to garbage cess.
He argued that either the user fee or the cess should be collected, instead of collecting both. “This will increase rentals for houses, commercial buildings, and marriage halls, besides the charges by hospitals, schools, and hotels.”
