Protesters confine SSI in a room in Salem

Protesters confined a special sub-inspector in a room after he allegedly pulled down women protesters in Salem on Friday.

Demanding the reopening of a closed factory at Suramangalam, the factory workers have been staging various protests for the past few days. On Friday, a special sub-inspector, Rajasekar, attached to the Special Branch CID, went to the factory to monitor the protest.

On seeing the SSI, the protesters quarrelled with him that he was not sending true facts of the protest to the government. Some workers tried to move the SSI from the protest spot and the SSI allegedly pulled down two women. Irked by this, they confined the SSI in a room in the factory and did not allow him to leave. On information, Suramangalam police came to the spot and talked with them and released the SSI.
