BMW Launches Gran Coupe: BMW has launched the second-generation 2 Series Gran Coupe in India. The new model is available in two petrol variants—218i M Sport and 218i M Sport Pro. The base M Sport is priced at ₹46.90 lakh, while the top-spec M Sport Pro costs ₹48.90 lakh (ex-showroom). BMW says the deliveries of the new model will begin immediately across India.

Bigger, Sharper Design: The new 2 Series Gran Coupe is built on BMW’s UKL2 platform. The car measures 4,546 mm in length and 1,445 mm in height—20 mm longer and 25 mm taller than before. The width remains 1,800 mm, and the wheelbase stays at 2,670 mm. The design highlights include a coupe-like roofline, frameless doors, and a sportier rear profile with new LED taillamps.

Signature BMW Details: At the front, the new model gets an illuminated kidney grille called “Iconic Glow” and adaptive LED headlights with cornering function. The front bumper features large air intakes and a sharp shark-nose design. The M Sport package adds high-gloss black accents, a sporty rear diffuser, and 18-inch alloy wheels. These styling elements are standard on both the M Sport and M Sport Pro trims.

Updated Interior Features: Inside, the cabin now features a curved glass panel housing two digital screens. The infotainment system is a 10.7-inch touchscreen, while the instrument cluster is a 10.24-inch display. Both screens run on BMW’s latest Operating System 9. The minimalist dashboard design is driver-focused, with most functions operated through touch and voice commands, reducing the number of physical buttons on the console.

Comfort And Tech: The new Gran Coupe comes with sports seats finished in Veganza leatherette. The upholstery options include Mocha and Oyster themes. A panoramic sunroof is standard, along with ambient lighting and illuminated trim. The sedan also gets a Harman Kardon 12-speaker audio system, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, and powered seats. The M Sport Pro variant adds a head-up display and a 360-degree camera system.

Advanced Connectivity Tools: BMW offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. The car also features BMW Digital Key Plus, allowing owners to lock, unlock, and pre-cool the cabin remotely via smartphone. The digital key can be shared with up to five users. Other features include a roof-mounted camera that can record photos and videos of the interior and export them to smartphones.

Driver Assistance Suite: The 2 Series Gran Coupe comes equipped with advanced driver assistance systems. These include Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Warning, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert under the Driving Assistant package. The Parking Assistant Plus offers a 360-degree surround view, while the Reversing Assistant stores the last 50 meters of driving for automated reverse movement. Dynamic Stability Control and crash sensors are standard.

Turbo Petrol Engine: Powering both variants is a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engine. This motor produces 156 hp and 230 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch Steptronic Sport transmission that sends power to the front wheels. BMW claims the car accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 8.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 230 km/h.

Performance And Ride: The new model also features revised suspension tuning and an improved ride height. BMW Performance Control is included to enhance agility and cornering stability. The Sport Boost function provides a temporary increase in performance for sharper acceleration. BMW has positioned this model as an upgrade over the previous generation, despite the smaller engine and slightly reduced performance figures.

Pricing And Rivals: The new 2 Series Gran Coupe is priced between ₹46.90 lakh and ₹48.90 lakh, making it BMW’s entry-level offering in India. It is costlier by ₹2.5 lakh compared to its predecessor. Its main competitor is the Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan, priced between ₹46.05 lakh and ₹48.55 lakh. BMW also offers finance options, service packages, and extended warranties.
