Electric Estate Debut: Mercedes-Benz has officially revealed the fully electric CLA Shooting Brake. This model expands the brand’s EQ electric lineup. It follows the new-generation CLA sedan. The European market launch is set for March 2026. While the CLA sedan is expected in India later this year, Mercedes-Benz has not confirmed if the electric Shooting Brake will enter the Indian market.

Cargo and Capacity: The electric CLA Shooting Brake offers 455 litres of boot space with the rear seats up. Folding the seats increases the capacity to 1,290 litres. An additional front trunk, or “frunk,” provides 101 litres of space. The roof rails can support loads up to 75 kg. The vehicle also offers a braked towing capacity of up to 1,800 kg for various cargo needs.

Two Power Variants: At launch, two variants will be available: the CLA 250+ Shooting Brake and the CLA 350 4Matic. The CLA 250+ has 268 bhp with a range of up to 761 km (WLTP). The dual-motor CLA 350 4Matic produces 349 bhp and delivers a range of up to 730 km. Both versions use an 85 kWh battery pack with an 800V system for fast charging.

Quick Charge Times: The high-voltage battery enables ultra-fast charging. Mercedes-Benz claims a 10-minute charge gives up to 310 km of range for the CLA 250+. The CLA 350 4Matic achieves up to 300 km with the same charge time. This quick charging is possible with compatible DC fast chargers, supporting daily use and long-distance travel efficiency.

Acceleration and Speed: The CLA 250+ accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.8 seconds. The CLA 350 4Matic achieves the same in just 5 seconds. Both variants have an electronically limited top speed of 210 kmph. An energy recuperation system delivers up to 200 kW under braking, improving efficiency during daily driving conditions.

Advanced Cabin Tech: Inside, the CLA Shooting Brake features a full-width MBUX Superscreen. It displays up to three screens powered by the Unity engine for real-time graphics. A panoramic glass roof with 158 illuminated stars adds a unique touch. An optional “starry sky” lighting system synchronises with the vehicle’s interior mood lighting.

Smart Voice Assistant: The MBUX system includes voice assistance powered by ChatGPT. This allows for conversational commands and advanced interaction. Passengers can also stream content directly to the passenger display. Streaming services include options like Disney+, enhancing in-cabin entertainment for long journeys or daily commutes.

New Dimensions: The CLA Shooting Brake is larger than its predecessor. It measures 4,723 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, and 1,469 mm in height. This makes it 35 mm longer, 25 mm wider, and 27 mm taller than the previous model. Despite larger dimensions, its rear boot is slightly smaller but balanced by the added front trunk.

Performance and Gearbox: Both models have a nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) 85 kWh battery. They share a two-speed gearbox on the rear axle. The first gear aids quick acceleration, and the second maintains power at higher speeds. AC charging is supported up to 22 kW, providing flexible home and public charging options.

Market and Launch: The CLA Shooting Brake will launch in Europe in March 2026. It will not be sold in the United States. Mercedes-Benz confirmed the CLA will arrive in India only as a sedan, with a hybrid variant joining the lineup early next year.
